Reflecting on Blogging and Christmas 2012
If you're a regular reader, you've noticed that I haven't been posting a lot lately. Let's just say, life's gotten in the way....
Then I've had to ask myself, "Why am I doing this?" If you're a blogger, do you ever ask yourself that question? I've had to take some time and reflect on it a bit.
As Winnie the Pooh would say, I was "thinking it over, thinking it under".
As Winnie the Pooh would say, I was "thinking it over, thinking it under".
What started out as a blog about how we've downsized and remodeled our home has turned into so much more. I get letters on a regular basis from people who've been encouraged by the lifestyle we've chosen, and in turn their letters encourage me.
At any rate, good Lord willing, I'll continue to share bits and pieces of our life with you and let Him do the encouraging from time to time.
Christmas 2012
Ice Skates in the Reading Nook
A Little Kitchen Cheer

and A Cheerful Garden Shed.
(what a lovely Christmas gift)
now, about that lifestyle I was talking about
I was up at 4:30 a.m. yesterday decorating while Buzz was fast asleep. We both liked it that way. When he did get up he served me a nice cup of hot chocolate and was wise enough to tell me how nice everything looked ...
It was a Sweet, Good, Morning!
(something I don't take for granted)
I'll be sharing more pictures of our Christmas in 2012; I just didn't want to over power you in one sitting. After all, I'll need something to write about tomorrow, then the next day, then the next...well, you get the idea.
Blessings!
ps... in case you're wondering...I took a nice long afternoon nap to recover from my 4:30am decorating escapade.
I know what you mean, my life's got on the way too, family specially, therefore, I haven't been around either...but guess what?..blogging keeps me happy and my mind with joy visiting all of you and looking at so much beauty and love, in your homes and I love it that we all have the same interests! Beautiful images Geneva, I love them all.. and yes, let HIM take care of what we cannot. Happy holiday season.

Well, I for one are certainly glad that you have decided to continue with your blog. You inspire many with your beautiful decor and ideas.
ReplyDeleteStop along the way to take the time to smell the roses....
ReplyDeleteThank You ... that's always good advice!
DeleteYes, life gets in the way, so we have to fit in blogging around LIFE! So far your decorations look just fabulous. Blogland has embraced you, so you need to stick with it, but again, your pace, not anyone else's. xo
ReplyDeleteGeneva-
ReplyDeleteI found your blog only recently and LOVE all of your projects. I am glad that you are going to continue blogging. If you don't post for a month- who cares? We will still be here when you get back : )
Even though my husband and I are only in our mid-40's, I showed my husband the pictures from your remodel and said "When we retire this is what we are going to do!" You inspired me to take down the 1/2 bath mirror and hang instead a framed one that was gathering dust in the basement. The hubby really liked it!
God bless and Merry Christmas!

Thank you for this sweet comment Jennifer... It made my day!

Geneva...I have I have! been wondering WHY DO I DO THIS???? I know why I read them, but why do I write them??? I HOPE that it's because, like you do me, I might--just tiny might--inspire someone with my simple little life in my tiny little town, living out my days.
ReplyDeleteI am thankful that you do write and that you offer us so much joy in the way you are as a person that comes through in your words and photos
And I love that you love Buzz...your heart's song...is a very good thing!
Hello Geneva,
ReplyDeleteDon't know if you remamber me- my husband and I used to own the little day spa right down the street from you in keller on Rose st... You framed several prints for me and when you had you had your shop open it was my favorite in Keller! Loved the papers you used to carry! Anyway I started following your blog because my husband and I are also in the process of down-sizing and simplifying our lives. I finaly made the connection who you were and am so excited to find you! You were always such a beautiful gracious person and I loved your decorating style! you were so ahead of the times with the Rustic/ Prarie look:) Anyway, just wanted to say "Hi". We live in Washington state now and it is nice to see a little bit of the Texas that I knew and loved! Arlena and Jim White
Arlena, of course I remember you and Jim. and it was the highlight of my day to hear from you! I was a little sad to see that you lived so far away, but so glad that you've found me and can keep me posted on how things are going with your down-sizing. I'll always remember you fondly and have always regretted that I never cashed in the spa gift certificate that you gave me ...":o) Please, stay in touch, I'd love to hear from you any time!
DeleteSo good to hear from you! Yes I always felt badly that you didn't cash in you G.C. as well, as I think it was part of a barter for some framing:/ If I were closer I would still redeem it for you;) Good memories of those days in Keller. We drove thru last year when visiting, and it has changed sooo much! Good to be in touch! Our Kids are grown now and spread all over and we just had our first grandchild in September- a girl! But they live in Florida:(
DeleteI follow you on Pinterest too, BTW:) Isn't that fun?! my email is arlenagwhite@gmail.com
Take care, Arlena
We have like minds... I'll look you up on Pinterest. It sounds like life is being good to you and your family...congratulations on the new grandbaby. I've saved your email address and will touch base from time to time.

I know just how you feel, Geneva! There are many days when I don't even turn my computer on. Blogging became somewhat of a job, and another job is NOT what I need! So, I'm not going to feel guilty if I miss a few posts and I don't feel bad if others miss mine. There just aren't enough hours in the day!
ReplyDeleteYour Christmas decorating is looking lovely, and since I haven't done any of my own, I'm enjoying browsing through my blog friends' homes. Enjoy your little guest!!
Geneva, I love the skates in the reading nook. The folk art tree is cute! I started blogging as a way of staying motivated to get projects done around the house. I get a lot of inspiration looking at what others have done. I also blog as a way to hone my photography skills. It's getting to the point where the photography is becoming more important than the projects around the house ... and I'm okay with that. :)
