Garden Improvements
When we retired and downsized a little over a year ago,
We went from this
to this
Instead of being discouraged, we rolled up our sleeves and went to work
and now, it's paying off!
With the springlike weather here in Texas,
we're beginning to see the fruits of our labor.
Happy Dance! Happy Dance! Happy Dance!
Our gardening style is casual ...
we like creating natural habitats for the wildlife we enjoy
...like Rocky the squirrel...
Do you remember him cooling off in
our sycamore tree last summer?
Our garden includes a butterfly garden, herb garden, lots of shrubbery and a few small trees for the birdies. We're even adding a vegetable garden this Spring...
Of course we know we might find
ONE of these guys in the lettuce patch!
He'll need to keep an eye out for Mr McGregor Buzz!

It's looking beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank You Manuela ... it isn't fancy, but it looks beautiful to us too. Way better than the weeds!
ReplyDeleteIsn't gardening wonderful! Congratulations on your beautiful new garden.

I love all the color and the natural look of it all.
ReplyDeleteI go with the natural look myself... I'm not an ornamental shrubbery person. I just like natural looking grasses and flowers just popping up and surprising me as I make my way around our place.
I'm afraid we'll always have weeds though. I've planted grass but it never takes hold.
Sod is out of our budget.
enjoying the Texas weather and waiting for those Thunderstorms to roll through- so far, just gusty winds~

The garden you left behind is so beautiful, but I can see you are well on your way to creating a new oasis!
ReplyDeleteIt is kind of fun to start from scratch and recreate. I am sure it will be beautiful!
ReplyDeletelovely! can't wait to start remodeling our garden as well, as soon as spring arrives here in Finland, maybe 1 more month and it´s here!
ReplyDeleteI dig your downs sized digs!!!
ReplyDeletean empty palette!
carry on
Your flowers look beautiful! We live in upstate New York, so we aren't seeing flowers yet, despite some unseasonably warm weather. Thankyou for posting pictures of your beautiful flowers. I was wondering if you could post a picture of the flowers in relation to where they are to your home. Are they in that semi circle right in front? Your garden architecture and what you have done have truly inspired me (and given me hope!!) (also love the birds in the backgruond that I hear when I am reading your posts!)
ReplyDeleteLynn... Thank you for your sweet comment. If you'll email me at geneva@my-hearts-song.com I'll be happy to share more pictures of our yard, and go into more detail about what we're doing. I do plan to post better pictures of our yard later in the summer when we have a little bit more going on.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
