Picture Framing Project
I thought I'd share my little picture framing experiment with you. It was so easy, and I really like the look. Of course, this was the first one I've done, and I can already see a couple of things I'll do differently on the next one.
My Experiment
I found a print from The Graphic's Fairy that I liked and printed it to fit one of my 5x7 frames. The paper I used for the mat is a shopping bag. I knew I was saving it for some reason... "
I cut a 5x7 piece out of the bag then tore an opening in the middle to create the mat for my picture.
It was easy enough, but I did struggle with which side of the paper I liked best.
In the end... this one won out.
I spent a few minutes assembling the frame and have to say,
"I like the look the torn paper gives this piece of art".
"I like the look the torn paper gives this piece of art".
I have a project that I'm working on that will incorporate at least two or three prints like this,
and maybe, I'll share it with you when it's complete.
In the mean time...I'm going to experiment a little bit more...
A couple of things I might do differently will be:
tint the art for an aged look
and
use a page from an old book as my mat.
You should give this simple project a try.
Hi Geneva!
ReplyDeleteThat is really clever. You could have paper/ads that coordinate with the them of the picture... but those might be too hard to find.
Thanks for joining my party :)
xoxo Bunny Jean
I like that!
ReplyDeleteI've been a professional framer for years...and you did great!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea. I love the way it turned out. I have some pictures I've been meaning to frame. Maybe I'll try matting some that way.
ReplyDeleteThat's a nice idea and the frame looks great. I, myself, prefer the other version of paper though :)
ReplyDeleteThat looks fabulous! Great job....I just noticed all the bees on your sidebars....I love bees too....especially love the Follow hive....darling!

ReplyDeleteHello Geneva,
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely picture you made. I'm glad you used the printed side of the bag. It makes it look extra special! I do the same thing and save little odds and ends to use someday.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment and for following my blog. I am your newest follower and I will be back to view your older posts, too.

I love your creation! Frankly I like taking apart old, old photos because I like seeing what paper was used for the backing. I took apart an old family photo of my grandfather as a child. The newspaper used as part of the framing process had an advertisement for my great-grandfather's ice cream shop!

Looks great Geneva. I like the printed side of the paper for the mat and the frame is perfect. Good idea ... I am sure I can use that idea sometime. I agree with you that aging the print would look good.

I really like how this turned out, Geneva. I think the old paper in the background makes it, and I love the birds. The torn paper gives it a special look. You did a great job.
